About this Site
A question I've asked myself many times since starting to build this site is; What is the point of it? That's a harder question to answer than I thought it would be.
Having looked at what was available on the net I decided that what was needed was a one-stop location for the story of Grand Prix racing. This is not a news site or a rapid results site. The idea is to provide background information on the history of Formula One from it's beginning right up to today.
The current season is a big part of that history so results will appear but not at the speed of other excellent operations such as Formula-1.co.uk. Also it is not intended to be a haven for those seeking just statistics, for that I would suggest the brilliantly executed, but dare I say dull, FORIX.
This site is a place for stories of men and machines working towards a single goal. It tells a story of often untold bravery, of superhuman skill and determination and of a never-ending quest for glory.
If you are new to F1 then this site will show you what you've been missing all those years. If you're an old hand then hopefully I can stir up memories of great days from your past and, if you have no interest in Grand Prix racing then hopefully I'll give you an insight into why it is a sport that has captured the imagination of millions down the through the decades.
Finally this site is not a soapbox for my opinion on who is the best driver and why? For the record, currently I like Schumacher for his ability, Irvine for his attitude, and Alesi for his style. That does not stop me from acknowledging the fact that Schumi is often too ruthless in his pursuit of glory while Alesi is too highly strung for his own good.
In the past I cheered for the likes of Hunt, Rosberg and Senna - seat of the pants drivers from the same mould as Rindt, Clark and Lauda. I also respect the abilities of the likes of Salo, Takagi and even the much maligned Pedro Diniz. In short I enjoy the sport of F1. The smell of the burning tyres, the roar of the V10s and the whole spectacle of it - pitbabes and all! It's bloody great and I love it.
So I suppose that's why I built this site. If you like it, then drop me a line. If you don't then tell me why not, or better still go and make your own and then show me where I've gone wrong.

Sources and Credits
Like many sites on the internet this locations has made use of a wide variety of sources. The list of books and sites is simply too great to include here but a few individuals warrant a special mention.
Firstly thanks to Rob Ryder for the use of many of his photographs. Taken during the early 1970's Rob's shots are a stark reminder of how inaccessible F1 has become in the last 25 years. Rob has also been very helpful in locating various missing images for the more obscure F1 machinery.
That task has also been helped along by the guys at the 8W site who never cease to amaze me with their ability to find some incredibly obscure facts and photos.
Another invaluable source of information has been Darren Galpin whose work I have used extensively in compiling the non-F1 driving careers of all the drivers.
Finally I'd like to thank Rick Dikeman for allowing me to use his US race reports.
Thanks to all of you.
