Every name is known to motorsport fans the world over. Each have their own distinctive features; the banked ovals of Curva Parabolica, the sheer thrill of Eau Rouge or the endless Mulsanne straight of Le Mans where records have been repeatedly broken as lives have been squandered.

Each of these evocative names, and many others, have a story of their own. Without some circuits, such as Brooklands, the sport would have withered away. Others such as the drab flatlands of Zolder are now only remembered as places of death.

The story of motor racing would not be complete without a look at the circuits on which those battles have been fought.

World Championship races have been staged across some 60 different circuits over the last 50 years. Some such as Ain Diab have only ever been visted once while others such as Monaco and Monza are permanent fixtures on the schedule. To see what races have been where select from the list below;
